We have run technical product businesses and we understand you’re already strapped for time and are pressed for growth and execution. The Next Step brings a team of battle-tested Driven Simplifiers, who are wired for problem solving. Our motto is simple, no homework and one less problem for our customer.
What do you do in your role at The Next Step?
I started in The Next Step as a full time Technical Writer. Since then, I've been switching hats to other roles as I continue to learn more and more about the company and its clients. Other things I've done include market research, video editing, video scripting, email campaigns, among others.
How/when did you first become interested in this type of work?
Since I was little, I've always wanted to write a novel of my own, but I never got to it. I started as a tech writer in TNS because of my technical background, and the writing just started to flow with the guidance of Jeff and the tremendous help of the team. I guess I could one day make enough time off to write that book.
What aspect your job brings you the most satisfaction?
What gives me the most joy is getting time for our clients. I've been on the other side, in which you wish you just had more time to achieve everything you want (writing a book for example), but you have sooo many things you can't get to everything. So being able to give that to our clients is nice. When you complete a job they requested and you present it to them, you can truly see their happiness.
Where is your favorite vacation spot and what makes it your favorite?
I love spending time in LA since that's where my parents and brothers live. I've been there 5 times, now everything there is to now in LA, but every time I go there I have a blast. Love it there.
What book would you most likely recommend to others and why?
I like to read a lot so there are multiple books I'd recommend. If you're looking for a self improvement book, I'd go with "Mini-Habits" by Stephen Guise. If you want a thriller that will keep you on your toes, anything by Stephen King. If you want a book about history, evolution and understanding human beings, definitely read "Sapiens" by Yuval Noah Harari.

Ya, we're a bunch of growth oriented, metric driven, type A, continuous improvement drivers, who enjoy knocking out tasks and having some fun in the process. Yet as a team, our discussions revolve around MVP (Minimum Viable Product), and how we are delivering measurable value for our customers.
